Publication of a monography

A monography "Integrated benchmarking study of safety for implementation of the open and closed nuclear fuel cycles in the Russian Federation. Methodology and results" by A. V. Kuryndin, R. M. Polyakov, A. V. Ponizov, M. A. Felitsyn, A. S. Shapovalov, R. B. Sharafutdinov (SEC NRS), L. L. Belinskiy, K. V. Ivanov, E. V. Suvorova, A. V. Khaperskaya (State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) has been published.

The monography presents an overview of the state policy in development of nuclear fuel cycles, implemented in countries extensively using nuclear energy, in the context of its orientation to realization of an open and closed nuclear fuel cycle. It demonstrates the timeliness of the challenge on comparison of safety of nuclear fuel cycles and elaboration of the objective numeric criteria the comparison is to be based on.

The monography also gives an overview of approaches recommended by international organisations to be applied for the purposes of comparison of various options for nuclear fuel cycles development, notices their advantages and disadvantages from the perspective of applicability for comparison of nuclear fuel cycles safety.

It describes the developed by the authors methodology of quantitative comparison of various options of nuclear fuel cycles in terms of safety, and depicts the results of the methodology application with regard to nuclear fuel cycles available in the Russian Federation.
